So far I’ve looked at about 100 resumes that came in, shortlisted about 25 candidates, interviewed 10 candidates and selected none.
As things stand right now, I am back to square one on the hiring front. Will have to think of some other creative ways to find candidates.

My experience with interviewing candidates is that its a futile exercise.
After all I am looking for a smart programmers so all I should be looking for is how good a problem solver the person is.
Best way is to give a small task(s), from the current project and if he/she comes out with a smart solution (say in a specified timeframe like a week) hire that person, otherwise don’t waste your or his/her time.
To be more creative you may call it a paid trial week, where you actually pay the candidate for working on that problem.
Thanks
Sachin
