What’s on and what’s current!

Posted by aarti on May 15th, 2008

Often wished that you found out about that brand new lounge before your boastful colleague did? or Hoped there was an easier way to know where and when to get a dose of some live jazz in the city? or Wondered why you didn’t get to know any sooner about a food festival that is already done and over with?

In case you haven’t noticed the super cool additions to the city home pages, here’s some news for you. We’ve launched events and new places. There are little boxes on every city’s homepage called ‘What’s On’ and ‘What’s New’. What this means is that now you can stay tuned to what’s hot, happening and new in your city through burrp!. ‘What’s on’ or burrp! events covers pretty much every live music show, food festival, wine tasting session or DJ gig in your city. What’s on will lead you to the events page for that city. When you get to that page you’ll see MORE events.

‘What’s New’ gives you a run down on all the new places that are mushrooming in the city these days.

(This is ‘version 0.0′ of events just to make life a little bit easier and a lot a bit exciting for you. More features & tools for events coming soon!!)

TV- An idiot box no more. Well, burrp!TV is here!

Posted by aarti on April 15th, 2008

The long wait is over and we hereby break the news! TV is finally here!!!! (applaud!, applaud!, jump with joy too!) and we have never been more proud of anything we’ve done. Slick, fast, hot, modern and totally up-to-date, here’s what TV has in store for you sweet burrpers -

Search: A super efficient search tool that allows you to search by show name, channel, genre or just any relevant keyword
Time Travel: Vroooom! No other medium offers you the ability to view channel schedules 14 days ahead of time!
SMS Alerts: Set SMS alerts that act as reminders before shows or movies so that you never ever miss them
Movie Explorer: Just a movie person, are you? Here’s a browser only for all the flicks playing across all television channels (My personal favourite!)
TV Scheduler: The scheduler, with its drag and drop functionality, lets you see the overall picture of what’s playing where across all channels simultaneously

The show details are supported by show timings, channel details, show repeat dates and show synopsis. There is a provision to ‘favourite’ the channels you care about the most so you don’t have to browse through everything. There’s a lot of other hidden features that you will discover as you spend more time on the site which of course, we want you to do. :) So do check it out and
tell us what you think. We are new and we are definitely not perfect so please send us plenty of feedback as always and continue to help us get better.

Happy burrping!

burrp! local upgraded

Posted by anand on April 13th, 2008

Last night we relocated the burrp! servers closer to home. We moved them from the US to India. The experience on the burrp! local sites should be really fast now. Don’t believe me? Try this out - http://mumbai.burrp.com/.

While we were at it, we also made some behind the scene changes for the something that we are going to launch shortly ;-). We’ll make the announcement on this blog when it is released. Until then, ciao!

rename your way to glory

You asked for it, we listened. Lists are now renameable (Did I just invent a word or what?). You can rename them from the manage lists section under your account.

If you haven’t created any lists yet, what are you waiting for?  Just check out these awesome lists here and here for inspiration.
